Life After Lockup has not yet shown us what Melissa Picariello’s new nose looks like, but Louie share a sneak peek on Instagram.
If the Love After Lockup franchise has taught us anything over the years, it is that relationships and romance do not necessarily get easier once you get out of jail.
And if you tuned in to watch the most recent episode of the spin-off, Life After Lockdown, you will know that surgery tends to complicate matters even further.
We have seen many shenanigans on season five of Life After Lockup, but Melissa’s quest to get a new nose (despite Louie’s continued objections) has certainly taken up a lot of the season’s air time thus far.
And now, the season’s penultimate “Games of Chance” episode has confirmed that Melissa indeed succeeded in her mission (after reportedly forking over a hefty $11,000).
Life After Lockup has not yet revealed what Melissa’s new nose looks like post-surgery, chances are they are saving this little detail for the season finale episode. But Louie has actually already let the cat out of the bag on his Instagram page.
In fact, if we connect all of the behind-the-scenes dots, this New Year’s Eve post may have actually been the very first time that Melissa was able to remove her bandages for a night out on the town.
And though the social media responses to her nose job have been polarized – it looks like Melissa is very happy with the change.
The fifth season of Life After Lockup has certainly been one of the show’s most dramatic seasons to date. So far, we have seen Melissa and Louie tackle everything from pregnancy scares to surgery.
This season of Life After Lockup can be summarized as follows:

13 | “Love Is a Powerful Drug” | December 1, 2023 |
14 | “Tick Tok” | December 8, 2023 |
15 | “Smells Like Bad Decisions” | December 15, 2023 |
16 | “Pizza of My Heart” | December 22, 2023 |
17 | “Problems You Didn’t Know You Had” | December 29, 2023 |
18 | “Deleted but Not Forgotten” | January 5, 2024 |
19 | “Moms Behaving Badly” | January 12, 2024 |

While Louie may have revealed what Melissa’s new nose looks like, Melissa provided all of the finer details about her surgery in a recent Jan 30, 2024 Instagram post, which she captioned “Thank you @drcharlespierce and the amazing staff @roweplasticsurgery and Louie for taking such great care of me, after the car ride of course!”
So, it looks like Dr. Charles Pierce was the plastic surgeon to reconstruct Melissa’s nose at the Rowe Plastic Surgery group.
A quick glance at Dr. Pierce’s social media pages reveals that he is a double board-certified surgeon who serves on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgery and describes himself as “The funniest surgeon you know, probably.” Whether that is worth what Melissa paid for her nose job – well, that is really something for her to decide.
Reality television stars have to learn to put up with just about every response in the book when they are interacting with fans (and trolls, haters friends) online.
So, it likely did not shock Melissa that her new nose gathered responses ranging from “You look great” and “It looks beautiful” to “Why would she do this????” and “You look like an aged Marylin Manson” – and just about everything in between.
However, we will likely all have to wait until the season five finale episode to find out whether Melissa was truly as happy with the surgery as she appears to be, and to see some before and after comparisons.
Whether you like Melissa’s new nose or not – the reality is that it is still entirely too early to judge. Surgeries like this rhinoplasty are highly individual, and so is every person’s body and recovery process.
But the Cleveland Clinic posits that it may take up to three months after surgery for most of the swelling to go down (especially if the rumors about Melissa also having some work done to her jaw are true). However, it could take more than a year for all of the swelling to subside.
And since minor changes in the look of the new nose may still happen years after the initial surgery, we may have to wait until well past New Year’s Day of 2025 to see what Melissa’s real “new” nose looks like.
