Will The Curse of Oak Island return for season 12?

The Curse of Oak Island has not officially been renewed for season 12, but it does not seem likely that the Lagina brothers will abandon the project now.

Brothers, Rick and Marty Lagina, have been documenting their quest to locate the mysterious treasure which is rumored to be buried on Oak Island for more than a decade now.

And now that their beloved History show, The Curse of Oak Island, is starting to wrap up its 11th season, fans are already turning their attention to the future of the show.

What lies ahead for The Curse of Oak Island?

When Rick and Marty hosted a Reddit AMA (short for “Ask Me Anything”) a few years ago, the duo expressed that they would likely just move on to another mystery if they ever were to solve all of the secrets of Oak Island.

However, until that happens, fans can most likely look forward to the duo and their team returning for more season of The Curse of Oak Island.

To be clear, neither the Lagina brothers nor the History Channel executives have officially confirmed that The Curse of Oak Island will be returning for a 12th season just yet.

But since The Curse of Oak Island is still one of History Channel’s most popular shows and the Lagina brothers seem content to keep going for as long as they have to  to find the answers they are looking for, there truly is no reason why the show would not be able to return to our screens for its next season very soon.

The Curse of Oak Island season 11: Where we are now

Season 11 of The Curse of Oak Island kicked off with an extra-special two hour episode, in which Marty, Rick and the rest of their team set out to continue their quest for answers by continuing their work at the Garden Shaft, the Baby Blob and many other key areas around this oh-so intriguing island.

However, as this most recent season has progressed, the team’s focus has expanded to include the newly-discovered walkway in the swamp and the newly-added extension to the Garden Shaft.

As it stands now, The Curse of Oak Island season 11 can be summarized as follows:

Detail Description
Season 11 premiere “On the Money” (which aired on November 7)2023
Most recent episode “On Target” (which aired on February 20, 2024)
Season 11 finale A still-untitled episode, which will air on March 26, 2024

Breaking down The Curse of Oak Island’s ratings

Ratings and viewership are still some of the most important factors in determining whether or not a show will be renewed. And in The Curse of Oak Island’s case – these indicators are all positive.

The season 11 premiere episode attracted about 2 million viewers and it has remained among the top 15 most-watched shows on cable television, with only old-favorites like Fox News and Monday Night Football bringing in more viewers per episode.

Will The Curse of Oak Island get cancelled after season 11?

Who will return for season 12?

Since the 12th season of The Curse of Oak Island has still not technically been announced, we do not have any concrete details about what may lie ahead for this season.

However, given that most of the so-called ‘Fellowship of The Dig’ have been around for a while now, it is fair to assume that the Lagina brothers, as well as Alex Lagina, Craig Tester, Jack Begley, Dave Blankenship and more, will return for the 12th season (as they have done for the many seasons before it).

Will season 12 be the season where the team finds something big?

When The Curse of Oak Island season 11 first premiered, Jack shared that he believed that he “had a feeling” that the team was about to find the treasure.

Shortly thereafter, Marty added that he believed that they were “closer than [they] have ever been.”

However, while there is certainly still hope that the team may just be able to solve the more than 220 year-old Oak Island mystery, season 11 of The Curse of Oak Island concludes – it is likely that we will hear about such a discovery long before the episode actually airs on television.

And as a result, it is fair to assume for now that the big Oak Island mystery has not been solved, just yet.

At this point in time, there is truly no way to tell if or when the The Curse of Oak Island team will happen upon this ever-elusive treasure, but with all of the significant strides that the team have made over the course of the last season, it really does seem like the team is inching closer and closer to the treasure every day.
