Season seven of Gold Rush: White Water will be arriving soon, and it might just be bringing the show’s biggest-ever nugget with it.

The long wait is over, and we finally have an official preview for Gold Rush: White Water’s seventh season. Longtime Gold Rush: White Water fans will know that getting to this point was not easy.

After season six disappeared off the air about halfway through its episodes, for an unexplained mid-season hiatus (which ended up being months long), there were considerable doubts about whether Dustin and his crew of Alaskan gold divers would return for another season.

But it seems like most of the doubts and uncertainty is behind us now, and Warner Bros. Discovery seems to be rolling along on Gold Rush: White Water’s next season without any hesitation.

What lies ahead for Gold Rush: White Water season 7?

There is no doubt that this seventh season will be somewhat of an underdog story, as Dustin has to prove that he has what it takes to take over his late father’s extensive mining operation in this very remote part of the Alaskan wilderness.

However, after Dustin’s team ended the previous season with just barely enough gold to cover their expenses – he will certainly have a long way to go.

Fortunately, in a rather unexpected turn of events, the preview trailer for this new season seems to indicate that the tides will be turning in Dustin’s favor this time around.

It features an absolutely massive golden nugget, which Dustin excitedly exclaims is “the biggest nugget in Gold Rush history”.

How does this compare to other Gold Rush finds?

Although we will need to wait for the new season of Gold Rush: White Water to start before we can put a real value to that impressive palm-sized nugget shown in the preview, it already seems like this find just might land Dustin a spot on the biggest Gold Rush paydays of all time.

To put things into perspective, the Dakota Boys’ best Gold Rush: White Water season still only brought in a small fraction of what Parker brought in for the biggest payday in Gold Rush history, as follows:

Category Weight Value
The best Gold Rush: White Water season (so far) Just over 40 ounces About $100,000
The biggest haul in Gold Rush history (so far) Just over 3000 ounces About $5.5 million

Will this nugget be enough to keep Dustin out of the red?

The erratic schedule was not the only thing that had us worried that Dustin and the rest of the Gold Rush: White Water crew may not be able to return at the end of last season.

Season six was certainly one of the most challenging season that Dustin and his crew ever faced. And, when they all had to depart the operation at the end of this difficult season, without any profits to show – Dustin seemed extremely worried that the Dakota Boys’ great gold-mining legacy had run its course.

Hopefully, this sizable gold nugget will be enough to guarantee that Dustin can cover all of his debts this season and can earn the crew a well-deserved bonus after all of their hard work.

Dustin’s endeavors will not be without risk

The one thing that we have learned about the Dakota Boys’ remote Alaskan claims is that getting to the pay dirt where these massive golden nuggets hide out is nearly impossible.

Last season, a few members of Dustin’s crew were almost crushed by the precarious 50-ton boulder, which had been looming over their operation for most of the season.

And now that Dustin can no longer rely on his father’s old-timer expertise (or on his second team leader, Kayla, who has already confirmed that she will not be returning to the show), chances are, getting that big gold nugget will be much more complicated than it seems at first glance.

Everything else you need to know about season 7

From what we have seen so far, season seven is well-primed to be one of the most exciting and dramatic seasons of Gold Rush: White Water that we have ever seen.

This new season will premiere on Discovery Channel on March 8, 2024, and new episodes will likely be airing on Fridays at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

And, while we do not have much to go on for this season just yet, we do recommend that viewers prepare for an emotional rollercoaster.

The preview for this season also warns that Dustin’s victories this season will be offset by the emotional turmoil of losing his father, and all of the unforeseen challenges that the Alaskan white water creeks will continue to throw his way.
