There has been no official explanation for why Tommy left Junkyard Empire, but he has been building and designing for his own businesses, outside of the show.

Junkyard Empire has always been known as one of the most genuine and entertaining shows on Velocity.

Tommy Bostic was a real-life employee at Damascus motors. He often helped out with some of the more creative builds on the show, and he has been focusing on his own businesses since season five of Junkyard Empire finished airing in 2020.

Why people love watching Junkyard Empire

There are certainly enough reality shows on television to pick and choose from, but the Velocity channel-favorite Junkyard Empire has remained a series that fans love to go back to, to this day.

Unlike many of the other car restoration shows which are currently on television, Junkyard Empire follows the daily activities of the real-life junkyard and auto shop business run by Andy Cohen (and sometimes also his semi-retired father, Bobby Cohen).

Watching this father-son duo hash out decades of family drama over every single business decision that takes place at Cohen Recycling and Damascus Motors is entertaining by itself.

But the show’s supporting cast of characters (which mainly consists of their employees) adds even more layers of humor and entertainment to every episode.

Why did Tommy leave Junkyard Empire?

So far, Junkyard Empire has aired five seasons in total. The show’s most recent, fifth season aired all the way back in 2020.

Unfortunately, there have been very few updates regarding the show or its main and supporting cast members since then.

The Cohens, and the rest of the team at Damascus Motors and Cohen Recycling undoubtedly have their hands full running their businesses, even when the cameras are not rolling.

But with no new episodes lined up, it can be difficult to keep track of what has happened to the fan-favorite characters from the show.

Tommy Bostic was one such a character. Tommy had already made a name for himself as one of the best high-end automotive sound designers in the industry by the time that Andy Cohen approached him to do some work for Damascus Motors.

Hence, it did not take long for fans to take notice of Tommy’s unique talents once the show started airing.

Neither the show nor Tommy have addressed his split from Junkyard Empire directly (likely because the show is no longer actively filming, and many members of the team have now moved on to new projects).

However, Tommy does seem to be using his newfound free time to focus on his own business ventures and passions outside of the show.

Tommy’s best moments

The Junkyard Empire cast members have gained a reputation for being some of the funniest people on Velocity. However, what really drew fans’ attention to Tommy was his incredible eye for design.

In the few years that Tommy worked on projects for Damascus Motors (both on and off the screen) he contributed to everything from refurbished military helicopters and B-52 drop tanks, to the replica Star Wars Landspeeder (which many Junkyard Empire fans still talk about today).

What has Tommy been up to since he left Junkyard Empire?

While Junkyard Empire fans may know Tommy best for the impressive sound design and automotive design work that he does on the show, he actually has quite a number projects that he runs outside of the show.

This includes his design firm, Tommy Built Design Studios, which has racked up a very impressive list of clients through the years, including the Canadian music producer, ‘deadmau5’ who donned one of Tommy’s designs on stage.

When Tommy is not designing for celebrities, he builds all manner of nerdy items, such as a life-sized C-3PO or seeker-droid replica, or a wearable Trooper suit for Megacon.

Tommy is also involved with TommyBuilt Tactical LLC, which specializes in building and converting custom weapons.

Will Junkyard Empire ever come back for another season?

Junkyard Empire is one of many popular reality television shows that just did not manage to bounce back after the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020.

Although it is not completely accurate to say that the show was cancelled, as there has been no official statement from Velocity yet, it is extremely rare for a show to make a full comeback after almost three whole years without any new episodes.

So, while Damascus Motors and Cohen Recycling are still going strong without the show, it seems unlikely that we will be getting any official updates about the Cohen family businesses, or the employees that work there, any time soon.

And at this point, it is fair to assume that the show has ended for good.
