We all had to adapt to life at home during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Even reality television celebrities like Chef Michael Symon had to figure out how to entertain fans, even though the Food Network studios were closed for business.
Initially, Symon started filming himself cooking dinner and sharing it with fans on the Food Network Facebook page.
However, Symon’s trademark exuberant personality (and of course, the few guest appearances by Lizzie, Liv and their pup Norman) became so popular that the series bloomed into a full-fledged show.
Symon’s Dinners Cooking Out has now expanded to include four whole seasons. Though the show has kept its humble roots and is still filmed in the back yard of Symon’s family home, with his same trusty grill and smoker.
Where is Symon’s home located?
Symon’s beautiful home, which forms the backdrop to all of his Symon’s Dinners Cooking Out episodes, is located in the Hamptons. He has been visiting and living in this area for well over 20 years.
Symon has revealed that when their family first settled in this home, it already had a drool-worthy kitchen.
But it was just not designed for the big-group entertaining that they were used to, and the couple spent quite a bit of time doing renovations to make the rest of the home the right fit.
Symon’s home kitchen is any foodie’s dream
Though Symon’s backyard is always the area on display in Symon’s Dinners Cooking Out, his Hamptons home’s kitchen is just as (if not more) impressive.
Symon bought this home from a cookbook author, which meant that the kitchen was already fully equipped with everything that an Iron Chef could need.
This is probably a large part of the reason why he was so excited to film all of his family recipes from home, to begin with.
The unexpected benefits of filming from home
Not every celebrity chef would allow a camera crew (and the millions of fans watching) into their family homes. However, Symon has revealed that the Symon’s Dinners Cooking Out set-up has had some unexpected benefits.
Symon has shared that the show’s intimate setting has encouraged fans to share photos, messages and videos of their own family meals, which has allowed this esteemed chef to connect with his audience in an entirely new way.
