The price of a Graveyard Carz restoration will vary from one project to the next, but the cost of such a restoration usually exceeds $70,000.
It is unlikely that you will tune in and watch all of the amazing work that Mark Worman and The Ghouls behind Graveyard Carz do without automatically wondering how you can get your hands on one of their expertly crafted vehicles.
However, if you are a true gearhead, then you will know that the price of a car that was so expertly crafted by the self-proclaimed “Mopar Guru” and his team will likely cost a pretty penny.
What do the Graveyard Carz cars cost?
If you want to get your classic muscle restored by someone other than yourself, you should prepare your bill to include a variety of costs that you did not necessarily expect.
If you acquire a special project from the Graveyard Carz team, you will likely receive a comprehensive statement outlining the cost of every component of the project, including the hourly labor costs as they relate to your specific car.
However, if you just need a general idea of what getting a Mopar from the Graveyard Carz team would cost you, we do have some specifics.
The man himself, Mark Worman, let it slip in an early episode of the show (season nine’s episode six, to be exact) that a restoration done by the Graveyard Carz team could run between $70,000 to $80,000.
And while is pretty much guaranteed that this price would have gone up since 2018, when this episode first aired, we can safely say that it is probably best to start saving for such a project sooner, rather than later.
How car restoration prices work
The price of a car restoration, whether that be a custom Graveyard Carz project or something else, can differ drastically depending on the state of the car and the necessary adjustments.
However, for the most part, you can expect to see many of the following costs listed on the bill, once your restoration is complete:
Costs | Description |
Project Car Acquisition Costs | The cost related to purchasing the project car. |
Restoration Preparation Costs | The cost related to any additional framing and chassis work that the car may need. |
Parts Costs | The cost related to purchasing any additional or replacement parts. |
Labor Costs | The cost related to the labor required to build and restore the car. |
Finishing Costs | The cost relating to finishing work, such as painting and upholstery. |
Of course, every shop has their own policies regarding pricing. The Graveyard Carz team even joked in a Facebook post from April of 2019 that telling the team how to do their jobs, may increase the hourly rate from the $100 minimum to $250.
What you are paying for
There is just no getting around the fact that getting your classic Mopar expertly re-done will come with a hefty price tag.
But relying on the professionals also means that you can rest assured that everything will be done within a reasonable timeframe and that it will hopefully be done correctly.
This is especially true for Graveyard Carz cars, as Worman is a real stickler for the rules when it comes to using OEM parts and those little details.
In fact, the Graveyard Carz team even goes as far as recreating the original spot welds on the bottom of their restoration projects.
How the Graveyard Carz team tries to keep costs down
Just because the Graveyard Carz team has built up a considerable amount of television fame throughout the show’s last 19 seasons, this does not mean that they have now become all glitz and glamour.
The Graveyard Carz team tries to keep costs as low as possible by working with various sponsors which supply everything from adhesives, tires, and cleaning agents, to just about everything in between.
How the Graveyard Carz restorations compare
If you ever find yourself falling down the black hole that is car restoration costs, you will quickly realize that the price of any given restoration project does not only depend on the type and condition of the car.
But it also depends on the shop that you choose to carefully weave your dream car together. And the matter gets even more complicated when television celebrities get involved.
When Danny Koker’s Counting Cars was just starting out, their restoration projects had price tags as low as $20,000. However, Koker sold one project for a whopping $140,000 in the more recent, eighth season of the show.
On the other hand, the team behind the British car restoration show Wheeler Dealers, does not charge anything for their labor.
Overall, it really comes down to how much you value the Worman seal of approval.
