What Ryan Evans from Counting Cars is doing now

Ryan Evans, who fans will recognize as Counting Cars’ expert painter, is still working at Count’s Kustoms to this day.

Counting Cars follows Danny Koker (who is perhaps more well-known as “The Count”) and his team of incredibly skilled professionals who work at the Count’s Kustoms custom shop in Las Vegas, as they transform fairly unassuming vehicles into moving pieces of art.

The show first started airing on History all the way back in 2012, and has not aired any new episodes since 2021.

One of the reasons why Counting Cars has been so successful is because the Count’s Kustoms shop has always been filled with a bunch of intriguing personalities.

Ryan Evans, who had been part of the shop for almost two decades when the first season started airing, had managed to work himself up to the position of one of the lead painters at the shop during the course of the show, and he has always stood out as a fan-favorite.

Despite the frequent rumors that Evans may have left the shop (or even that he has been fired), Evans’s social media pages confirm that he is still happily working for Count’s Kustoms to this day, even though the show is no longer actively filming.

Evans and the rest of the Count’s Kustoms team members who have stayed on are still producing some of the coolest, most unique and most creative custom builds in the world.

How Ryan Evans got the job at Count’s Kustoms

Working for Danny Koker at his shop, Count’s Kustoms sounds like a dream job to many aspiring fabricators, painters and mechanics.

But Evans revealed in a recent episode of The Collision Vision podcast, that he had actually sort of stumbled into this job in the late ‘90s.

Evans, who had been working on an off in Los Angeles at the time, responded to a recruitment call from Shannon Aikau (Count’s Kustoms’ bike builder) which stated that he was looking for painters to join the shop.

He simply decided to go for the opportunity because he felt like he needed a change of scenery.

Painting bikes really is still Ryan Evans’s passion

When Evans was fresh out of college, he started out his now-legendary automotive painting career painting bikes even before he eventually signed on to join the bike team at Count’s Kustoms.

And although Count’s Kustoms has now expanded to include hot rods, classic cars, trucks and just about anything else on wheels, Evans still shows clear favoritism for the bike projects that he works on in the shop.

As if to illustrate this, Evans recently shared a series of photos from one such  project to his Facebook page, with the caption “Very proud of how this bike for Mobile one turned out.”

Moreover, he even hand-copied real roof plans for a different bike project, which was later shared on the Count’s Kustoms YouTube page.

Did Ryan Evans and Danny Koker have a falling-out?

If you are an avid Counting Cars fan, you will already know that the show’s cast often got involved in small squabbles and fights during the episodes, usually about the artistic direction of their next project.

However, even though Evans keeps his personal life fairly private, he has taken to Instagram to clear up some of the rumors that he was fired from Count’s Kustoms.

Evans replied to a recent comment which accused him of embezzling money, responding, “those are all lies. The article is about Joseph not me. Lol. Can’t believe any of those gossip pages ever”.

And since he still works for Count’s Kustoms all these years later, it is fair to assume that any rumors of a fight between him and the shop-owner, Danny, should be taken with a pinch of salt.
