It has now been almost three years since Myrla first appeared on Married at First Sight and her life has changed completely since then.
On the surface, Married at First Sight is all about love, marriage and ‘happily ever after.’ But fans who have been tuning in to watch this guilty-pleasure show for a while already know that deep down, it is all about the drama.
And there have been only a handful of Married at First Sight cast members who have generated quite as much drama and outside buzz as season 13’s Myrla Feria.
Myrla’s journey on Married at First Sight and beyond
Myrla made quite an impression throughout Married at First Sight season 13, as it was evident that she and her expertly-chosen partner, Gil Cuero, did not fall in love at first sight.
And the words “my husband is bald” is still ringing in the ears of many Married at First Sight fans all these years later.
Although Married at First Sight season 13 has recently had a resurgence thanks to its release on the streaming platform, Netflix, it has now been almost three years since this season first aired.
And as you may have expected from watching this season, a whole lot has changed in Myrla’s romantic-, personal-, and professional life since she last appeared on the show.
A recap of the Married at First Sight season 13 couples
Married at First Sight season 13 originally premiered on July 21, 2021, with the “Lone Stars No More” episode. And a lot has changed since then.
At this point, it is pretty safe to say that season 13 has turned out to be one of the overall messiest seasons of Married at First Sight that we have ever seen.
All of the season 13 couples (and their current relationship statuses as of March 2024) can be outlined as follows:
Couple | Current relationship status |
Brett Layton and Ryan Ignasiak | Broken up |
Rachel Gordillo and Jose San Miguel | Broken up |
Bao Huong Hoang and Johnny Lam | Broken up |
Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero | Broken up |
Michaela Clark and Zack Freeman | Broken up |
What happened between Myrla and Gil?
(Serious spoilers ahead for the end of Married at First Sight season 13, so proceed with caution.) Many Married at First Sight fans were shocked when Myrla and Gil decided to stay married on Decision Day.
However, by the time that season 13’s reunion rolled around, Myrla and Gil announced that the inevitable had indeed happened, and they had decided to break things off after their run on Married at First Sight had ended.
But now that some time has passed since the show’s initial airing, Myrla has revealed quite a few new details about what really went down once they no longer had to smile for the cameras.
According to what this former reality television star told Tamara Lynette Tales in 2022, Gil had not been entirely truthful about his savings earlier in their relationship and a disagreement about finances is what ultimately caused their relationship to fall apart.
Reportedly, Myrla and Gil still lived together for about a month after they broke up, and even tried to go to couples therapy before they eventually called it quits and moved away from each other.
It looks like Myrla is friendly with the Married at First Sight cast
While it seems like Myrla and Gil no longer maintain any kind of relationship these days, Myrla has managed maintained friendships with quite a few of her Married at First Sight season 13 cast mates.
It seems like Myrla, as well as her fellow female Married at First Sight season 13 alums, Rachel and Brett, have really bonded over their shared experiences since the end of this season, as this trio frequently meet up to this day.
And Myrla even joined in on this lighthearted video that Johnny posted in 2021, seemingly poking fun at all of the drama that happened after the cameras stopped rolling.
What Myrla is up to now
Myrla has seemingly not let the struggles in her romantic life slow her down at all over the course of the last few years.
Her social media accounts are filled with various videos and snaps from all her trips around the world. And she also frequently shares health and beauty content.
When Myrla is not travelling around the world, meeting up with her Married at First Sight co-stars or working out, or caring for her dog ‘Porcia’ – she is usually working very hard as one of the Managing Partners at TNTP, a non-profit education organization which focuses on advocating in the public education system.
