Hector no longer seems to be part of the Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet team, but the show has never officially addressed his departure.
Dr. Jeff Young and the rest of the team at the Planned Pethood International clinic have spent the better part of the last decade caring for and often times saving the lives of pets on their Animal Planet show, Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet.
However, the most recent season of the show (season eight) concluded all the way back in 2022.
This has left fans all over the globe with plenty of extra time on their hands to wonder not only about what has happened at the Planned Pethood International clinic over the last few years, but also about what happened to some of their favorite Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet cast members along the way.
Hector’s role of Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Vet
Fans who have been following the Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet show for a long time will already know that while Dr. Jeff is certainly the star of the show – the Planned Pethood International clinic would simply not be able to function without Dr. Jeff’s many helpful staff members.
This, of course, includes Hector Martinez – Dr. Jeff’s right-hand man and the Planned Pethood International vet tech.
However, while Hector has always been a crucial part of the Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet team, it seems like this fan-favorite character has now parted ways with Dr. Jeff and the Planned Pethood International clinic.
Hector’s run on Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet
Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet first started airing back in 2015. Since then, the team at the Planned Pethood International clinic has handled cases ranging from the everyday spays and neuters to nail-biting life-saving operations, and even a few fundraisers.
And, as one of Dr. Jeff’s most trusted technicians, Hector was there for most of it. That is, of course, until he left the show in its seventh season. All in all, Hector’s run on the show can be summarized as follows:
Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet Season | Number of episodes |
Season 1 | 10 episodes |
Season 2 | 12 episodes |
Season 3 | 12 episodes |
Season 4 | 10 episodes |
Season 5 | 10 episodes |
Season 6 | 14 episodes |
Season 7 | 13 episodes |
Why did Hector leave Planned Pethood International?
Rumors first started circulating that Hector may have left the Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet show when this vet tech did not feature in many of season seven’s final few episodes.
And it did not take long for keen-eyed internet sleuths to realize that he is no longer listed under the staff section of the Planned Pethood International website.
But Hector’s departure from the show (and seemingly the clinic) has never been discussed publicly by Animal Planet, Dr. Jeff, Hector, or any other members of the Planned Pethood International clinic.
Hence, the real reason for this seemingly sudden departure remains a mystery to this day.
What is Hector doing now?
Unfortunately, the lack of communication surrounding Hector’s split from Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet and the Planned Pethood International Clinic has only served to fan the flames of various rumors.
Some sources have reported that Hector left to start his own mobile pet grooming business. However, no records of this ‘Hector’s Mobile Pet Spa’ business exist online.
One thing that is certain, however, is that regardless of why Hector decided to leave this chapter of his life behind (or even what he is doing now), it seems like there is no bad blood between him and his former Planned Pethood International boss.
In fact, the pinned post on Hector’s personal X (formerly named Twitter) profile is an old photo of him and his “buddy” Dr. Jeff.
What has happened at Planned Pethood International since the show ended?
While various sources have posited possible reasons for why Hector may have decided to leave the reality-television-star/vet-tech life behind.
And there is a chance that behind-the-scenes expansions at Planned Pethood International had a big impact on this decision.
In case you missed it, Dr. Jeff and the Planned Pethood International team recently moved their entire operation from their previous location in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, to a new 12,000-square-foot facility in Conifer, Colorado.
Dr. Jeff has revealed that he has plans to turn this new clinic into a state-of-the-art pet-care facility at which they can train future veterinarians in providing the best possible care.
So, while we might never know the true reason behind Hector’s sudden departure, it is quite likely that he simply could not uproot his life to stay on at this new clinic and decided to forge his own path, instead.
