Heath Moore left Texas Metal in 2021, seemingly to focus on his health, but he is still doing interiors outside of the show to this day.

The Texas Metal team has gained quite a reputation over the years, both for the success of the show, and for the impressive builds that come out of the Ekstensive Metal Works shop.

Although the Interior Shop expert, Heath Moore, has not been on the show since his health-scare in 2021, he is still doing custom interiors for his own business.

The cast of Texas Metal

MotorTrend’s hit reality series, Texas Metal, showcases the work of owner, Bill Carlton, alongside his team of expert mechanics, welders, fabricators, builders, painters and upholsterers at his Ekstensive Metal Works custom shop in Houston Texas.

Carlton’s father purchased the land that eventually became the Ekstensive Metal Works custom shop all the way back in 1976.

Ever since then, Bill and the rest of the team have been working hard to maintain their reputation as one of the coolest custom shops in the Texas area, and beyond.

What happened to Heath on Texas Metal?

The Ekstensive Metal Works team has been bringing fans along for the ride as they customize and overhaul everything ranging from a classic 1964 Lincoln to John Cena’s original 1969 MGC and anything in between.

They have done this for a total of six seasons since Texas Metal first debuted in 2017.

One of the fan-favorite cast members who assisted in many of the Texas Metal builds over the years is Heath Moore.

Longtime Texas Metal fans will recognize Heath as the talented upholsterer who took up many of the Interior Shop duties on Texas Metal.

However, many fans may not even recognize Heath’s name at all, as this loveable former member of the Ekstensive Metal Works team did not return to Texas Metal for the show’s fourth season, which first started airing in March, 2021.

Although Heath never officially explained why he left the show, he was diagnosed with the dreaded COVID-19 virus in March of 2021, presumably just as the show was filming its fourth season.

And it seems likely that his declining health may have prevented him from filming any content for that season of the show.

However, even though Heath later confirmed that he had tested negative for the virus and was on the mend via his Instagram, he has now seemingly decided to focus on his family and his own business, Heath Moore Interiors, instead of returning to the show for the fifth and sixth seasons.

Heath is not the only Texas Metal cast member who left the show

Ekstensive Metal Works gained a reputation for being one of the best custom shops in Texas way before the Texas Metal show ever started airing.

And because Ekstensive Metal Works operates as a real custom shop on and off the show, its employees also tend to come and go over time, just like with any other custom shop.

Heath is not the only member of what is often referred to as the “original” Texas Metal cast who has left the show throughout the years.

Tim Donelson resigned from Ekstensive Metal Works and left the show in 2022 in order to pursue his own business venture with John Villarreal-Vega.

Fortunately, this also means that Texas Metal has introduced quite a few new cast members in the show since it began in 2017.

Heath is still doing custom interiors outside of the show

Although fans may not be able to see Heath’s handiwork on the newer seasons of Texas Metal, his custom hand-made interiors can still be seen featured on various custom builds, thanks to his business, Heath Moore Interiors.

Heath runs Heath Moore Interiors alongside his wife, Rebecca Moore and his daughter, Kyra Moore, who also acts as the apprentice and videographer in the business.

What Heath has been up to since he left Texas Metal

When Heath received the news that he tested negative for the COVID-19 virus in 2021, he celebrated, stating that he “got to hug” his wife and daughter again and it seems like Heath has been focusing on spending more time with his family and friends ever since.

In fact, Heath has even shared an Instagram Reel post as recently as August 17, 2023, expressing his gratitude for his friends and family who have supported him over the years.

Heath also recently put his 30 years of experience in the automotive industry to good use when he was a judge in the 2023 Texas Wake*N*Scrape Event.

Here he chose his favorite interior, and by the looks of it, enjoyed some good old car-show fun on the sidelines.
