It seems like the only reason why Eric was missing from most of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season three was because he was busy with other projects.
A lot has changed since we first saw the father-son-duo, Duane and Chad Ollinger, set out to try and find the treasure which is reportedly buried underneath their property in Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’s premiere episode.
But, while Duane and Chad have now added a mysterious disappearance on the property, a mysterious energy zone, and possibly even a prehistoric snake to their list of Blind Frog Ranch mysteries – one of the biggest questions that fans were struggling with during the show’s most recent, third season, was about what exactly happened to geologist, Eric Drummond.
Eric had been an integral part of the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team for the majority of the show’s first and second seasons, but he mysteriously disappeared from the show’s credits when season three rolled around.
Fortunately though, Duane, Chad and the rest of the team have now revealed that Eric’s disappearance was far less sinister than we may have thought.
In case you missed it, Eric actually returned to Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch very briefly for the show’s season three finale episode.
However, before he made his big Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch comeback, Chad took a moment to explain where this well-known geologist had been all season long.
According to Chad’s explanation, Eric had simply been “off on his own adventures” during most of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season three, but kept in contact with the team to help guide them through some of the more complicated geological principles. And it turns out that this is one Blind Frog Ranch mystery that we can finally put behind us.
Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season three has been one of the show’s most jam-packed season yet and it featured everything from quantum imaging scans and lawsuits, to the discovery of what could be prehistoric snake DNA.
As a result, you could be forgiven for missing some of the details around Eric’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch return.
If you want a recap of Eric’s crucial geological advice for this season, you will have to re-watch the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season three finale episode, which can be summarized as follows:
Detail | Description |
Episode | Season 3, episode 8 |
Title | “Into the Cavern” |
Initial air date | Wednesday, January 3, 2024 |
Rating | 7.8 out of 10 stars on IMDb |
There is no doubt that Eric has been the driving force behind many of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’s most compelling discoveries thus far.
This includes the carbon-dating of the mysterious box at the bottom of the pond, and the discovery of the very valuable iridium deposits on the ranch.
The box – Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’s biggest prevailing mystery
Eric was not around for most of the boots-on-the-ground discoveries in Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’s third season.
However, his last-minute advice to document the nitrate deposits in the soil around the energy zone is what ultimately led the team to discovering a new entrance to the cave system.
Although Chad did vaguely explain why Eric was not really featured on Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season three – it just would not be a Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch discussion if we did not introduce some alternative theories.
There is one rumor floating around the internet that Ryan Skinner (Eric’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch co-star) supposedly confirmed that Eric had actually refused to return to the ranch after an “animal incident”.
And while this would certainly help to explain why Eric joined this season through a video-call, it seems much more likely that Eric has actually been filming for another show, in a different location.
But, of course, the only evidence that we have to support this theory is a rather cryptic post from Eric’s Facebook page, which marks his departure from California in March 2023.
Warner Bros. Discovery has not officially renewed Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch for a fourth season just yet, but Chad recently revealed that the team has already started filming new content.
And since Eric is seemingly still on good terms with Duane, Chad and the rest of the team, and given that they will likely have many more geological questions, once they start exploring the underground caves, there is really no reason why Eric would not return for the show’s fourth season, even if it is just in a video-chat cameo format.
