David Visentin, who co-hosts Love It or List It with Hilary Farr, is still working as a real-estate agent and public speaker, while filming for the show.
David Visentin and Hilary Farr’s on-air rivalry is part of what makes Love It or List It so entertaining to watch.
Both David and Hilary are still part of the show, but David is also still active in the real-estate market and the public speaking sphere, even when he is not filming for the show.
The Love It or List It hosts
One of the most compelling parts of Love It or List It (and likely the main reason why the show has managed to stay on the air for so long) is the friendly rivalry between the show’s two hosts, Farr and Visentin.
Love It or List It’s unique format means that it is one of the few home renovation and house-hunting shows with two hosts.
Moreover, Hilary Farr and David Visentin’s on-screen chemistry ensures that every episode of the show is entertaining, regardless of whether the homeowners choose to “Love It” or “List It” by the end.
What happened to David on Love It or List It?
During each and every Love It or List It episode, David and Hilary face off to try and convince the homeowners to either list their current property, or to stay and renovate it.
While Hilary (the esteemed designer) focuses in on the “Love It” side and proposes various renovations that will significantly upgrade the homeowners’ homes, David takes the “List It” side and tries to entice the homeowners to sell their current home in favor of trading it in for a brand new home which will suit their needs much better.
David has been in the real-estate business since 1987, when he started working for Country Living Realty.
Country Living Realty is in Barrie, Ontario, which is also where David grew up, and eventually found that he shared his father’s (and the rest of his family’s) passion for the real-estate business.
These years of experience in real-estate have made David quite the local expert and have helped him to find new dream homes for hundreds of clients over the years.
Although David has been a practicing real-estate agent for well over two decades, and he also balances many other responsibilities outside of Love It or List It, he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
The Visentin Real Estate group, which mainly comprises David and his sister Bonnie, is still open for business and you can even book an appointment to buy or sell a house with David to this day.
When David is not busy filming for Love It or List It (and bickering with Hilary) he fills his time with public speaking, media engagements, and some good old quality family time.
David has channeled his competitive spirit into positive avenues
David and Hilary have both admitted in the past that their competitive spirits can get the better of them on the show. However, it seems like David has managed to use this competitive spirit to his advantage outside of the show as well.
Throughout his career, David has made a name for himself as a dynamic speaker specializing in real-estate and selling advice. David reportedly makes about $30,000 to $50,000 per speaking engagement.
David and Hilary are best friends in real life
Hilary has revealed that David was not her first choice for a co-host when Love It or List It was still in its testing stages.
However, now that the two of them have worked on the show together for almost two decades, it is nearly impossible to imagine it any other way.
Hilary and David have become so close, in fact, that they often dine together and call each other, even when they are not filming for the show.
Love It or List It is still going strong
It is incredibly rare for a real-estate show like Love It or List It to stay on the air for decades, but it is even rarer for shows to make the jump from Canada to the United States market so successfully.
Fortunately, Love It or List It has done all of the above, and is still beating out newer shows when it comes to viewership.
In fact, the show’s 19th season (which aired in 2022) proved to be so popular that it prompted the release of four extra special episodes just a few months ago in April, 2023.
At this stage, this likely means that fans can look forward to seeing much more of David, Hilary and the rest of the Love It or List It cast in the near future.
