Christina uses a combination of hardwood, vinyl and SPC flooring in Christina on the Coast to round out her signature beachy, neutral designs.

Christina Hall’s solo show, Christina on the Coast, has a much more design-focused premise, which really shows off her coastal style.

Christina uses a variety of flooring styles on the show, depending on what the client’s needs are. But she usually sticks to hardwood, vinyl, or SPC flooring from her own brand.

About Christina on the Coast

There is no doubt that audiences love to see what Christina Hall comes up with for every new home design that she takes on. This is why it was no surprise when HGTV decided to give this former Flip or Flop-star her own show in 2019.

Christina on the Coast sees Christina double-down on her California-roots to create beautiful coastal-inspired spaces for herself and for her clients.

Christina on the Coast focuses much more on the design aspect of things than Flip or Flop ever did, and this fresh approach proved to be so successful that this show even spawned its own spin-off, Christina in the Country, which started airing in 2022.

Both Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country have already been renewed for their next seasons.

What flooring does Christina on the Coast use?

There are many elements that make Christina’s signature beachy and effortless designs so popular, but there is no denying that flooring is often the element that can pull the entire design together.

Whether Christina is sticking to her neutral guns to create lovely open and sprawling spaces in the Southern California homes featured on Christina on the Coast, or she has to appeal to exactly what the client wants, there is no doubt that flooring is always at the top of her crucial decision list.

If you are renovating or designing your own space and you have found yourself wondering how you can get the signature Christina on the Coast aesthetic in your own space, the flooring is definitely a good place to start.

Christina has revealed that many of her flooring decisions on the show are guided by the budget.

When clients have more spending money for a project, she tends to use boutique hardwood floors from her preferred supplier, Warren Christopher (which also has its headquarters in Costa Mesa, California).

However, if the budget needs to be stretched a little, Christina tends to stick with pocket-friendly options like SPC or laminate.

In fact, it is highly likely that we will see many more SPC and LVP floors in the coming fifth season of Christina on the Coast, as Christina continues to debut new styles in her own line of flooring products, which is called The Christina Collection.

What Christina considers when she is picking out floors for a new project

Making important design decisions for a project that you want to look perfect is always difficult, but Christina focuses on practical aspects when she cannot make up her mind.

Besides the oh-so important budgetary considerations, Christina also considers things like where in the home the floors will be placed and whether they need to be waterproof or slip-resistant.

She also considers whether a family has dogs or small children that could scratch softer floor types and of course, which types of flooring will fit with the rest of her carefully-curated color palette for the space.

Christina’s favorite type of flooring

If you really want to hone in on that recognizable Christina on the Coast aesthetic with your flooring choices, why not go with one of Christina’s favorite styles?

Christina revealed earlier this year that she was surprised by how much she loved the chevron-patterned vinyl flooring which she installed in a home featured on the fourth season of the show.

Chevron-patterned floors have certainly been making a comeback in recent years. If you keep your flooring neutral, like Christina did – this bold look should give just enough interest, without overwhelming the space.

All about The Christina Collection

Christina’s flooring brand, The Christina Collection, launched in 2021. This first launch included 21 different styles of highly-durable SPC flooring that took inspiration from Christina’s laid-back SoCal designs and some of her Midwest designs.

However, The Christina Collection has now expanded to include new brushed hardwood styles as well.

This wide variety means that The Christina Collection flooring should appeal to both first-time buyers who are just starting out and who want something that will grow with their homes and luxury buyers who are looking for that really chic look.

Most of the Christina Collection styles are scratch-proof and water resistant, which makes them great value for money.
