Winners on Raid the Cage can walk away with a variety of prizes, but the losing team does not get to keep any of their prizes.
Raid the Cage is easily one of the most challenging game shows currently on television and teams have to master both the trivia challenge and timed prize-collecting in order to stand a chance at beating the cage.
Every episode of Raid the Cage sees two teams (each comprising two teammates) compete for the chance to beat the cage in the grand finale – and to walk away with potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes.
Unfortunately, though, the team with the lowest accumulated total prize value at the end of each game’s first three rounds will forfeit all of their grabbed prizes and will leave the game empty-handed.
Each Raid the Cage game has three different rounds in which the “gabber” and the “grabber” from each team have to work together to grab as many prizes as possible to advance to the final round, as follows:
Player | Description |
The Gabber | Each round, the gabber is challenged to pick out the answers of up to ten themed trivia questions for the chance to add a few precious seconds to the “grabber’s” time in the cage. In round one, every correct answer earns three extra seconds. In round two, this increases to five extra seconds and in round three this is increased to seven extra seconds for each correct answer. |
The Grabber | The grabber has no idea how much time remains once they are in the cage and needs to grab as many prizes as possible without getting locked out. If the grabber makes it out of the cage, their grabbed prizes are added to the total prize value, but if the grabber is trapped in the cage, they lose everything that they have gathered for that round. |
The final round of Raid the Cage gives one team of contestants 90 seconds to Raid the Cage tag-team-style.
If the team grabs prizes worth at least $50,000 within the allotted time, they have beaten the cage and get to take all of their prizes home with them.
Before each new round of Raid the Cage, the Cage is fully replenished with all-new high-value prizes for the contestants to grab and go.
But this is especially true for the game’s final round, in which only one team gets to raid the cage one final time.
If the contestants manage to beat the cage during this final round, they go home with all the prizes that they grabbed throughout the entire competition.
However, even if the winning team does not beat the cage in this final round, they will still not go home empty-handed.
Even if the winning team does not manage to grab $50,000 worth of prizes in this challenging final round, they can still keep all the prizes which they grabbed in the first three rounds of the competition.
Raid the Cage gives contestants the chance to get their hands-on a vast range of prizes, ranging from headphones to luxury all-inclusive vacations.
And for the most part, these prizes are split into three distinct categories, as follows:
There is no doubt that the prizes up for grabs on the first season of Raid the Cage were worth a pretty penny. But then again, Birkins, new cars, golfing equipment or even diamonds are not everyone’s style.
Moreover, contestants do not really have time to worry about what they are grabbing once they are in the cage and the timer is counting down.
Fortunately, one former Raid the Cage contestant confirmed that the Raid the Cage producers subscribe to the time-honored game show tradition of offering its winners a cash prize alternative.
According to Kevin Rayo and Billy Swenson (who won a total prize value of over $39,000), they were all too happy to have a little extra cash on hand after their somewhat successful run on the show in 2023.
