Ster-Kinekor Sandton City reopens to the public

Ster-Kinekor Sandton City has officially reopened, after being one of the few cinemas in Johannesburg which remained closed despite being permitted to resume operations under Level 3.

Sterk-Kinekor Sandton City announced its reopening in an Instagram post on Monday, 26 October 2020, calling upon movie lovers to return to the cinema. The cinema franchise originally reopened in August 2020, with 32 of its movie houses across South Africa being open to the public. Sandton City, however, has been closed since March 2020, but has now finally decided to allow patrons to visit them once again.

In the Instagram post, Sandton City explained that Ster-Kinekor has introduced stringent safety measures, such as virtual bookings for tickets and snacks to limit the contact between staff and patrons. The post stated, “After months of watching movies at home, it’s time to venture out! Ster-Kinekor have reopened, with new seating arrangements and safety procedures in place.”
