Old Town Italy’s new Melrose Arch restaurant adds a piece of Italy to the precinct

Old Town Italy’s newest branch, based in Melrose Arch, is in-keeping with the restaurant’s Italian theme and manages to transport busy Johannesburg residents to an Italian street corner.

Old Town Italy’s new branch in Melrose Arch opened on Friday, 30 October 2020, to a warm reception. The restaurant offers an Italian convenience store entry way with authentic groceries, meat and snacks. Hidden behind the off-the-street store is the formal restaurant, which welcomes you with a magnificent oak and gold bar that is filled to the brim with expensive champagne and European wine. With English armchairs at the bar and at the tables, the setting is classy and chic, and is in full view of the kitchen. Patrons are able to see the chefs hard at work preparing the popular Italian cuisine. The Gnocchi Alla Gorgonzola and Tagliatelle Al Fungi are the epitome of a traditional Italian pasta, with fresh cream and cheese standing out amongst the other ingredients. Old Town Italy has also done its best to add twists to the meals, with add-on such as walnuts and cranberries to the Gnocchi Alla Gorgonzola, and the thyme-infused truffle oil to the Tagliatelle Al Fungi.
