Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season 3 episode 9 – The episode that never happened

Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season three’s episode nine may be lost to the cutting room floor, but it could have had real potential.

If you have been watching the show since Duane, Chad, Charlie and the rest of the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team started their investigations into the rumored $3 billion Aztec treasure buried at this Uintah Basin property since season one – then you may agree that the show always seems just a few episodes too short.

However, season three of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch marks the first instance in the show’s history, where a season has actually came up one episode short.

What happened to the ending of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season 3?

There is no doubt that season three has been one of the most exciting seasons of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch that we have ever seen.

But even though this season introduced so many new faces, and showcased some very exciting new finds, it has also been considered one of the most confusing seasons of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch so far.

Not only did some series regulars, like the fan-favorite geologist, Eric Drummond not make an appearance until the very last episode of the season, but there was also some real confusion about how many episodes this season would end up having.

And now that the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team confirmed that season three would be ending with episode eight – us keen-eyed fans of the series have simply been left to wonder ‘what has happened to this season’s ninth episode?’

Episode 9 – What could have been?

In case you missed it, Ryan Skinner, one of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch’s newest additions – teased an “especially” exciting ninth episode in December of 2023.

Episode eight ended on such a crucial note, with the team finally having located a dry entrance to the cave system (after spending so much time digging out that excavator).

Now, all that is left to do is to speculate about what might have happened in this now, long-lost episode.

In our opinion, episode nine could have gone down one of three different avenues, which are as follows:

Options Description
Option 1 A freak weather incident stops the team from exploring further
Option 2 The team encounters some kind of obstacle
Option 3 The team actually finds something

Option 1: A freak weather incident stops the team from exploring further

We have seen various weather-related delays including sand storms, wind storms, and now even flash floods, so far, on the first three seasons of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch.

And whether you subscribe to Duane’s theory that the ranch is trying to protect its treasure or not – there is a real possibility that with winter on the horizon, the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch crew would have had to stop their work in episode nine on account of bad weather.

Option 2: The team encounters some kind of obstacle

Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch has not exactly had the best history with following through on their exciting finds so far.

In fact, we are still wondering why they never made a plan to return to the other entrance that they dug in season two’s finale episode.

So, in classic Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch fashion, it is entirely possible that season three, episode nine could have featured a whole lot of build-up to an ultimately uneventful season finale, like we have seen from the series in the past.

And, if we had to guess, something like poisonous gas, smaller tunnels, rising water levels or something even more sinister, would have probably delayed any big finds until next season, anyway.

Option 3: The team actually find something

Season three’s episode nine was probably originally meant to be the last hurrah of season three, and there is certainly a very good chance that this episode could have included an exciting new find.

The Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team has been trying to find a dry entrance to the cave system ever since the first episode of the series aired in January of 2021.

And with the discovery of that gold bar still very fresh in our memory, it is quite likely that episode nine could have seen the team stumble upon something great within the caves.

At this point in the game, this “something” could really be anything from the Aztec treasure to more iridium.

But whatever it is, we can only hope that this episode gets bumped to the start of season four (if Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch does return for a fourth season, that is) to clear up some confusion.
