The sixth season of Mama June’s show, Mama June: Family Crisis, only just finished airing on WEtv and a next season has not yet been announced.
Mama June and the rest of her family have always had a contentious relationship with the public eye, but they recently returned to WEtv for the 2023 season of Mama June: Family Crisis.
Unfortunately, fans will now likely have to wait until 2024 to get new reality show updates on how the family is doing.
All about Mama June
Audiences were first introduced to June “Mama June” Shannon, when she and her daughter, Alana, were featured on the TLC child beauty pageant reality television show, Toddlers & Tiaras.
Alana, Mama June and their interesting family dynamics proved to be so entertaining that it did not take long after their appearance for them to get their very own show.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo followed Alana and the rest of her family as they went about their daily lives in McIntyre, Georgia.
It was on the air for three seasons, before concluding in 2014, reportedly due to the continued backlash over Mama June’s many relationships and the inner-workings of her household.
Mama June: Family Crisis – Why Mama June Won’t be coming back on TV in 2023
The circumstances surrounding Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’s cancellation in 2014 may have not been the best, but it did not take long for Mama June and her family to bounce right back.
Mama June’s very own reality show, which documented her personal weight loss journey and was titled Mama June: From Not to Hot officially started airing a few years later in 2017.
Unfortunately, not everything had been straightened up in Mama June’s life behind the scenes just yet, and she was detained on drug possession charges in 2019.
The news of Mama June’s arrest and subsequent fall-outs with other family members spread like wildfire and ultimately led to a total rebranding of the show.
However, despite rumors that Mama June and the rest of the family would be done with reality television for good, WEtv announced in an official press release from April 6, 2023 that the newly-rebranded Mama June: Family Crisis would be returning to the channel on May 5, 2023.
And, since this newest sixth season of Mama June’s show has only just finished airing, it is unlikely that fans will get to see more of Mama June, or her family, for the rest of the year (unless you count re-runs, of course).

Mama June: Family Crisis season 7 may already be in the works
Neither WEtv nor Mama June or the rest of the family have officially announced the renewal of the rebranded Mama June: Family Crisis for season seven just yet.
However, Mama June recently posted a video on her Instagram sharing her journey travelling to Denver, Colorado, where she met up with Alana.
And even though this was just a brief, surprise trip, this may be a clue that the family is already meeting up to film some content for season seven of the show.
If this is true, fans can expect Mama June: Family Crisis’s seventh season to premiere as early as May of 2024.
What to expect if Mama June: Family Crisis does come back for another season
The most recent Mama June: Family Crisis season was chock-full of family drama, which ranged from legal disputes over Alana’s custody and child payments, to Justin Stroud and Mama June’s nuptials and Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s cancer diagnosis.
Moreover, although it seemed like all of these hardships helped the family to reconnect with each other, it also highlighted how much they had each grown apart.
It is likely that if the show is brought back for another season, this season will continue to examine the changing relationship dynamics between Mama June’s new husband, Justin, and the rest of the family.
And since Alana recently celebrated her high school graduation, there is also a chance that season seven may include a few celebratory moments throughout.
