The departure of longtime Expedition X host Jessica Chobot seems be the beginning of her own show with Discovery Channel.

Following the premiere of the eighth season of Expedition X on Wednesday, August 14 2024, many ardent fans of the show lamented the absence of longtime co-host Jessica Chobot.

Chobot has summarily been replaced by self-proclaimed “third-generation paranormal investigator”, Heather Amaro.

Amaro, joined regulars Josh Gates and Phil Torres for the premiere of Season 8 of Expedition X, and quickly hit the ground running, venturing to the infamous Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia for part one of a two-part investigation in the now defunct psychiatric hospital.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum has the unenviable title of being one of the so-called most haunted buildings in America.

With Chobot gone, many fans feared that she was fired (which she wasn’t). Some assumed she was pregnant or that she permanently moved to the Netherlands and that she would inevitably disappear into obscurity.

A seemingly sure sign that her paranormal investigation days were indeed behind her.

Nothing could be any further from the truth. In a message posted on her social media, Jessica Chobot, confirmed that a new TV show was in the works, writing “to those who are asking why I’m not on this season, I’m working on something new with Discovery. Can’t wait to share the details about this new adventure soon.”

Chobot also added a cryptic teaser of the upcoming show, explaining that it’s “the weird sh*t that I love mixed with other weird sh*t that I love. The perfect combo.”

And as for the rumors of bad blood between the crew of Expedition X, and indeed her successor, Heather Amaro, she laid all doubts to bed.
