Nothing has been officially confirmed just yet, but it seems like Mountain Monsters may just be coming back in 2024 or 2025.
While you would expect pretty much any show that deals in the hunting of Bigfoots or really any cryptid investigation to keep most of its information on the down-low, fans of the cryptozoology investigation show, Mountain Monsters, have now gone more than two years without any new updates on the show’s future.
However, there is some new (and very mysterious) information which suggests that the show may just be returning for another season, very soon.
The fate of Mountain Monsters: 2024 update
Although two years of radio-silence is usually enough for most fans to abandon all hope that their favorite shows could return to the small-screen, many Mountain Monsters fans have been adamant that this show will eventually return for its promised ninth season.
And, while we still do not technically have an official season nine confirmation from any of the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings (A.I.M.S.) team, the show’s Wikipedia has been updated to state that Mountain Monsters season nine “is expected to appear in late 2024 or early 2025”.
The Mountain Monsters airing schedule
There is no official airing schedule for the long-awaited ninth season of Mountain Monsters just yet. But we do know that the previous eight seasons of the show aired as follows:
Season | Episodes | Initial air dates |
Season 1 | 6 | June 22, 2013 to July 27, 2013 |
Season 2 | 14 | April 4, 2014 to July 31, 2014 |
Season 3 | 8 | March 7, 2015 to April 25, 2015 |
Season 4 | 11 | January 23, 2016 to April 16, 2016 |
Season 5 | 8 | April 8, 2017 to June 3, 2017 |
Season 6 | 10 | August 21, 2019 to November 20, 2019 |
Season 7 | 8 | January 3, 2021 to August 8, 2021 |
Season 8 | 10 | January 2, 2022 to March 13, 2022 |
Since January 2024 has already passed, this means that the ninth season of Mountain Monsters will either stray from the show’s existing airing pattern and air later on in the years, or it means that fans of the show, will have to wait until January of 2025 for new episodes to start airing.
Rumor has it…Mountain Monsters season 9 is already being filmed
Like any good conspiracy theory, all of the information that we have about Mountain Monsters to date has merely been speculation and unconfirmed rumors.
This includes a certain behind-the-scenes video, which has been doing the rounds recently.
This video shows Willy McQuillian, William “Wild Bill” Neff and several other members of the A.I.M.S. team seemingly hanging out on set.
And while this video was posted by an unofficial source, it is certainly compelling evidence to suggest that the team may have already started filming for the new season.
Where season 8 of Mountain Monsters left off
Before we dive into any more details about what could be on the horizon for Mountain Monsters season nine, it might be time to recap where the previous season of the show ended.
In case you need a reminder more than two years later, the previous season of Mountain Monsters ended with the A.I.M.S. team making an important connection to their old leader “Trapper” in the midst of their investigation into the unidentified rumbling on Dave’s property.
However, the discovery of Trapper’s pathfinder symbol (and possibly even his secret cabin) was not the only puzzle piece that slotted into place before the end-credits rolled.
And season eight ultimately ended on a huge cliffhanger with the A.I.M.S. team showing us only a snippet of some very compelling video evidence which their cameras managed to capture of what looks like a Sasquatch roaming the area.
The unanswered Mountain Monsters questions
The ending of season eight of Mountain Monsters was exciting and unexpected. But it left many unanswered questions that we hope the team will return to in season nine.
For one, it would be great to see the A.I.M.S. team track down more evidence of Smoke Wolf activity on Dave’s property. And while they are at it, they might even consider adding him as an honorary member of the A.I.M.S. team.
But perhaps the biggest question that still remains is whether that short clip that the A.I.M.S. team managed to capture in season eight really features a bigfoot.
If the team’s season nine investigation does lead them deeper into the Tygart Valley woods, they will have to be on the hunt for clues – not only about what exactly Trapper found on this property all those years ago – but, also about any possible sasquatches that could still be camping out there to this day.
