Lakefront Luxury is a Canadian-produced television show and that means that most of the show’s filming takes place at high-end properties on Canadian lakefronts.
Lakefront Luxury may just seem like another house-hunting show on the surface. But what makes this show really special is the incredible high-end properties (and the beautiful scenery) which it showcases.
Lakefront Luxury is a Canadian show and as a result, these properties are located in various waterfront recreational areas across Canada, where the show is filmed.
About Lakefront Luxury
There are few things better than getting to live vicariously through couples who have the opportunity to buy their dream homes, and Lakefront Luxury takes property-envy to a whole new level.
Lakefront Luxury, which was only recently acquired by A+E Networks for distribution in the United States, showcases some of the most drool-worthy waterfront properties on the market and it also does a pretty good job of showing off just how peaceful and comfortable life on the lake could be.
Especially when this life includes all of the high-end designs, features and breathtaking views that you could ever want. Of course, Lakefront Luxury also includes just enough of that ‘will they or won’t they?’ excitement, to keep things interesting.
Is Lakefront Luxury filmed in Canada?
We would not blame you if you were so distracted by all of the beautiful properties featured on Lakefront Luxury, that the question of where these properties are located in the real world never even occurred to you.
But, if you have found yourself wondering how and where the producers of the show managed to find such a range of breathtaking lakefront homes, the answer may just surprise you.
Although Lakefront Luxury has been airing in the United States for quite a few years through strategic partnerships with Bravo and A+E Networks, it is actually a Canadian television show.
It is produced by the Nikki Ray Media Agency, which is based in Toronto.
Thus, the majority of the production and filming process of Lakefront Luxury takes place a little farther north than you may have expected.
Most of the lakefront properties that you will see on the show are actually located near Muskoka, Niagara on the Lake, Coldwater, Prince Edward County, Lake Simcoe, Beaverton, and Lake Rousseau, in Canada.
In fact, even though the show’s reach has now expanded way beyond the Canadian border in the last couple of years, a casting call for the fourth season (which will probably air sometime in 2024) has revealed that the show is staying close to its roots.
It will still be filming in these same locations in Canada for the foreseeable future.
How long does filming for Lakefront Luxury take?
Lakefront Luxury has aired a total of 28 episodes over the course of its three seasons and although it can sometimes seem like the house-hunting and purchasing process takes place very quickly, the casting calls have revealed that the filming of every episode actually takes a few days.
The Lakefront Luxury casting calls ask that the couples who are interested in looking at lakefront properties and giving their opinions on camera, put aside a block of three days for filming the episode.
This, of course, does not include the travel time needed to get to the filming locations.
What makes the Lakefront Luxury homes so special?
Canada certainly does not have a shortage of picturesque lakes, or beautiful ready-for-market properties surrounding the lakes, for that matter, but what makes the properties featured on Lakefront Luxury so unique are the high-end features that these properties have.
This includes features like fully customized kitchens, in-home movie theatres, walk-in wine cellars, and even outdoor features like luxury boathouses, tennis courts and private hiking trails.
Understanding the Canadian lakefront property market
A recent report by RE/MAX Canada shows that interest in recreational properties, like the ones featured on Lakefront Luxury, was still relatively high by the end of 2022, and it is not difficult to see why.
Lakefront properties have always been in high demand, because of the stunning views, outdoor activities and general slower pace of life, usually closely associated with these properties.
However, as you would have noticed within the first few Lakefront Luxury house tours, all of this does come at quite a steep price.
In fact, the aggregate price for single-family homes in these recreational areas increased by 11.7 percent in 2022.
Fortunately, if you manage to keep up on the maintenance of your lakefront dream home, these properties can be a great investment in the long term.
This is likely why the show has managed to find enough buyers to fill three season worth of episodes.
