il Contadino, which directly translates to “The Farmer” in English, blends together the restaurant’s ethos of organic, farm-fresh food with a modern and refined twist. Located in Parktown North, the restaurant has a sizeable setting that offers both indoor and outdoor seating options, giving customers the feeling of sitting roadside in a European town. The inside area uses the open kitchen and bar as the focal point, as patrons are able to witness the stone oven pizzas being prepared and their drinks being created.
Using farm-quality products as the backbone of its menu, il Contadino offers a selection of healthy meals that are brought together with fresh salads and organic meats. According to its website, il Contadino is a tribute to the rural or “peasant” food from the Spanish, French and Italian countryside. This is also evident in its combinations of protein and roughage – much like the Europeans.
