Howard – Press Your Luck’s luckiest winner

Howard may not have won the biggest Press Your Luck season five prize, but he did manage to avoid Whammying out.

The Press Your Luck revival, which is hosted by the very talented comedian and actress, Elizabeth Banks this time around, has been keeping the fans tuning in from home at the edges of their seats for over four years now.

However, as season five of this beloved game show draws to a close, the action and suspense has just been kicked up a whole new level.

Howard’s impressive game

Every long-time Press Your Luck fan will already know that the only thing in this tricky game that distinguishes a winner from a loser – is a little bit of well-timed luck.

But there is just no denying that Howard (a former private investigator, turned fisherman) who appeared on the most recent “The Whammy Strikes Back” episode in season five, is certainly luckier than most of the winners we have seen on the revival so far.

Not only did he avoid the wrath of multiple Whammys in the main rounds of the game, but he also narrowly escaped with an impressive prize in the bonus rounds of the game.

Press Your Luck season 5

Season five has been a particularly exciting season for the Press Your Luck revival. Aside from Howard’s incredible win in this most recent episode, the show also celebrated its 40^th anniversary this season, featured an extra-festive holiday extravaganza and saw winners walk away with over $240,000.

Let the Whammys rain

It is certainly not rare to see a few Whammys in any new Press Your Luck episode (they are half the fun of the show, after all). But the “The Whammy Strikes Back” felt like it was setting some sort of Whammy-record.

Spoiler alert if you have not finished watching this episode yet, but the first few rounds of “The Whammy Strikes Back,” saw a whopping 9 Whammys distributed among all players.

This includes Kayla, who had brought along a sweet Whammy plush for the game, though this only seemed to encourage the show’s mascot to Whammy her out of the game.

Howard, however, had the absolute good fortune of somehow only landing on a Whammy tile once in this entire ordeal (after missing a trivia question in the second round).

And this is what ultimately landed him in the oh-so exciting final, bonus round of the game.

Howard’s winnings

By the time that Howard entered the bonus rounds on his episode of Press Your Luck, his extra-lucky streak had already secured him over $64,000 in winnings.

Howard then went on to win a range of Michael Kors accessories, a trip to the Bahamas and Key West, dog houses and various other cash prizes during the bonus round of the game. This pushed his final prize total to an impressive $110,173.

And while this is not the biggest total that we have seen so far on season five of the show, it puts Howard among season five’s top three winners (so far) – besides, we think he deserves a few extra points for avoiding all of those Whammys.

All about the season 5 finale episode

With all of the excitement captured in the “The Whammy Strikes Back,” one simply cannot help but wonder what the Press Your Luck producers have up their sleeves for season five’s grand finale.

This tenth episode, which is all set to round out the fifth season of Press Your Luck in the show’s regular 8 p.m. EST timeslot, will be titled “It’s Nacho Night!” and promises to continue the fun with an extra special and extra spicy lineup.

CBS has already confirmed that “It’s Nacho Night!” will take things up a notch, with one of the grand prizes up for grabs on the Big Board being a lifetime supply of nachos.

But in true Press Your Luck fashion, fans can expect to see a few heartbreaking Whammys come between the hopeful contestants and this exciting prize before this season ends.
