Craig Landry from Moonshiners was in a horrific unicycle accident, but he seems to be recovering well.

The 13th season of Moonshiners has just finished airing. But while it has certainly been entertaining watching longtime stars like Richard Landry deal with everything from finding new ways to distill their signature brews and finding new ingredients to having their equipment stolen – there is just no denying that it has been difficult watching his journey knowing what happened to his brother, Craig.

What happened to Moonshiners’ Craig Landry and how he is doing now

In case you did not know, the former Moonshiners star, Craig Landry, was in a serious and harrowing accident whilst riding his electric unicycle.

The accident left him with numerous severe injuries which continued to hamper his recovery, even after he returned home from the hospital.

These injuries prevented this fan-favorite Moonshiners star from returning to set, but his brother has been trying his best to keep fans updated about Craig’s health.

In the most recent update from Richard, from a Facebook video posted on October 2, 2023, he stated that his brother was “okay”, but that “by no stretch of the imagination is he totally okay yet”.

Fortunately, a more recent update from one of Craig’s other Moonshiners co-stars has now confirmed that he is currently still recovering well.

Moonshiners’ most recent season

Craig has not been featured on Moonshiners since 2022. However, the show has not slowed down after his departure, and it has since aired a 12th and a 13th season.

Moonshiners’ most recent, 13th season can be summarized as follows:

Episode Title Premiere date
Episode 1 “Moonshine is a Miracle” January 2, 2024
Episode 2 “Try That in a Shine Town” January 9, 2024
Episode 3 “Beer Before Liquor” January 16, 2024
Episode 4 “The Drunkest President” January 23, 2024
Episode 5 “Quarter Ton of Backwoods Fun” January 30, 2024
Episode 6 “Tennessee Spirit” February 6, 2024
Episode 7 “Legalize It!” February 13, 2024
Episode 8 “Highway Robbery” February 20, 2024
Episode 9 “Tickle’s Restaurant” April 2, 2024
Episode 10 “Boldest Bootleg” April 9, 2024
Episode 11 “The Grapes of Grappa” April 16, 2024

The extent of Craig’s injuries

Craig’s accident was so serious that he initially needed to be airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans Louisiana after being knocked unconscious.

The GoFundMe page set up by Craig’s manager explained that he received treatment for “multiple broken bones to his face, jaw, hand, and broken teeth” before he was discharged.

His injuries were extensive, however, and he eventually had a multitude of surgeries to repair all of the damage that was done.

It is unclear whether Craig will have to undergo any more surgeries to correct the damage from this accident in the future.

An update on Craig’s condition from an unlikely source

Richard and the rest of the Moonshiners cast have been so wrapped up in the filming of the show’s most recent season, that it has been a while since we have had any real update on Craig’s condition.

Fortunately though, that has now changed. Amada Bryant (Craig’s former Moonshiners co-star) has confirmed in the comment section of one of her recent Facebook posts that “Craig is getting better slowly and surely”.

The Moonshiners star added that “He’s got a ways to go,” but she was quick to assure fans that he “is doing good right now”.

And while this does not exactly read as a clean bill of health, it does seem to indicate that Craig is still recovering well and staying strong almost a year after the accident.

Will Craig ever return to Moonshiners?

The 13th season of Moonshiners has only just aired its finale episode, but the fandom is already buzzing for news about the show’s renewal. At this point, Moonshiners has not even officially been renewed for a 14th season yet.

However, even if the show is renewed – it seems highly unlikely that Craig will be able to return to the television show so soon.

Not only is Craig still recovering from his physical injuries, but Richard has also alluded to the fact that he does not want to appear on camera.

And given that making moonshine on Moonshiners often requires rigorous physical activity and a few stealthy maneuvers to avoid law enforcement, it will likely take a few more years for Craig to be in front of the cameras again.

In the meantime, though, it seems like Craig has been helping Richard behind the scenes by coming up with new recipes – some of which have been so good that Richard has carried the moonshine around with him.
