Expedition Unknown has found a few small artifacts on the show, with the help of various archeologists and experts all around the world.

Expedition Unknown is certainly exciting to watch. Though Josh Gates and his team have found a few artifacts on the show, it is really more about showcasing the work that other experts have done to solve these mysteries.

Has Expedition Unknown ever found anything?

Watching Josh Gates uncover one mystery after another on Expedition Unknown is like watching a real-life Indiana Jones.

As exciting as it is to follow along as the show investigates and researches these myths, mysteries and local legends, it can feel like a letdown if nothing is resolved by the end of an episode.

The reality is that often, a lot is still “unknown” about the mysteries on Expedition Unknown by the time that the episodes end.

Gates and his Expedition Unknown team have discovered a variety of small artifacts like gold coins, Roman silver coins, mysterious remains and often just some new information.

But they often just tag along on investigations which are already well underway, like during the “Expedition Unknown: Egypt Live” episode and they do not come across these artifacts through their own efforts.

In the end, Expedition Unknown is seemingly just a vessel to inform and show the public about all of the important work that archeologists and research teams all around the world are doing.

About the Expedition Unknown: Egypt Live episode

In 2019, Expedition Unknown took fans behind the scenes. The show joined a team of Egyptian archaeologists and experts as they explored the Al-Ghorifa burial site live on television.

During this live event, fans could see as these teams uncovered multiple antiquities, a wax head and two previously undiscovered mummies.

Moreover, although the Expedition Unknown team was technically not responsible for making these discoveries themselves, the show certainly helped to draw a lot of attention to this awe-inspiring dig.

Expedition Unknown has inspired quite a few discoveries

While Expedition Unknown does not always crack the case in a single episode, some of the additional information that is uncovered on the show has led to further discoveries.

This includes the discovery of the elusive  “The Secret” book by Jason Krupat, whose search was inspired by an episode of the show.

The show draws attention to important discoveries

For the most part, when a particularly exciting discoveries are made on Expedition Unknown, the show’s team really just tags along with some other archeologist’s or explorer’s team.

Though this may seem somewhat disappointing at first, all of these teams’ hard work would likely have gone unnoticed if they were not featured on Expedition Unknown. Even if the show did not head up all of these projects themselves.
