Discovery Channel revealed that a new host, Heather Amaro will join Expedition X’s eighth season, effectively replacing longtime host Jessica Chobot.
The rumors that began circulating earlier this year that Jessica Chobot would not be returning for the eighth iteration of Expedition X, have indeed turned out to be true.
Jessica Chobot leaving Expedition X is actually the start of something big
On Thursday, July 25 2024, Discovery Channel confirmed, albeit by omission, that a new host would be joining regulars Josh Gates and Phil Torres.
According to a release by Discovery Channel, Heather Amaro “is a third-generation paranormal researcher who has spent decades investigating mysterious phenomena.”
Beyond that, not much is known about Heather Amaro, but from what we can glean from her newly established Instagram account, she will likely be a good fit in the reconstituted Expedition X team.

Confirming the announcement on Instagram, Heather recently wrote “It’s a dream come true and an adventure of a lifetime to join the #ExpeditionX team. It’s been a seriously wild ride, and I can’t wait for yall to see what we discover!”
Season 8 of Expedition X will premiere on Wednesday, August 14 2024.
And the season opener will see the new Expedition X team head to West Virginia for a two-part investigation at one of the so-called most haunted buildings in America, the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, which is an abandoned psychiatric hospital with supposedly paranormal activity.
The rest of the season will see many other paranormal pursuits, including a reexamination of Scotland’s famed and legendary Loch Ness monster, in light of supposedly new evidence about the creature.
The team will also hit the streets of Savannah, Georgia in search of “hostile spirits”, and also venture to the Everglades in Florida to investigate reports of a “mysterious seven-foot monster known as the skunk ape.”
