Cage and Andreea have one of the most compelling stories on Lifetime’s Prison Brides, but there are a few details about them that you might not know.
Finding love is difficult enough, but throw long distances and long prison sentences into the mix, and it seems almost impossible.
However, Lifetime’s brand-new docuseries Prison Brides follows seven unlikely couples who endeavor to risk it all to make it work, against all odds.
All about Cage and Andreea
Prison Brides follows seven women from all over the world, who are planning to move to the United States in order to pursue relationships with their partners, fiancées and husbands.
Unfortunately, there is just one catch – all of the men in these long-distance relationships are in prison for various violent crimes ranging from carjacking to second-degree murder.
Like many of the other couples featured in this show, Andreea and Cage met through an online pen pal program and eventually fell in love.
However, unlike many of the other couples who we have already seen on the show, Adreea and Cage will have to wait more than a decade until Cage is officially eligible for parole.
So at this point, it seems like they will have a more difficult journey than most of the other head-over-heels couples on the show.
Everything you need to know about Prison Brides
Prison Brides officially premiered on Lifetime on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
The show airs in the coveted 9:30 p.m. Eastern time or 8:39 p.m. Central time timeslot and new episodes will be available to stream the next day via the Lifetime app (even without cable, the show can also be streamed on any platforms that carry Lifetime, including Philo, DirecTV Stream and Sling).
The show has only aired two episodes so far, but there is bound to be much more excitement, as things develop further. The two episodes that have aired thus far can be summarized as follows:
Episode | Title | Initial air date |
Episode 1 | A Strange Situation | January 10, 2024 |
Episode 2 | Proposal on Parole | January 17, 2024 |
The third episode of Prison Brides, titled “I’ve Seen Him Naked Now” is set to air on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
What exactly did Cage do?
If you tuned in to watch the premiere episode of Prison Brides, you would know that Cage Chapparo is currently serving a 50-year prison sentence in Texas for aggravated robbery charges.
According to the court documents, Cage confessed that he was the driver in an aggravated robbery at the home of a couple named Jesse and Christie Peterson.
Cage was just 16 years old at the time of his arrest, but because he was involved in a string of armed home invasion robberies and had “extensive juvenile referrals” he was tried as an adult for his crimes.
And while Cage did try to defend his actions by saying that they were just “young, stupid mistakes” during the trial, he was found guilty and convicted to serve out his lengthy prison sentence in March of 2014.
Cage did try to file an appeal two separate times in the years following his arrest, but both of these appeals were ultimately denied.
When will Cage get out?
If you were shocked to find out that Andreea and Cage had somehow been in a relationship for more than three years without ever meeting in person, you will be flabbergasted to learn that the couple will not be able to meet outside of the prison for at least another decade.
Cage was officially convicted in 2014 for the crime he committed in 2012, but he will only be eligible for parole after serving 25 years.
This means that the first chance that he will get to apply for parole will only be 13 years from now in October of 2037.
Though, if he has to serve out his full sentence, the Texas Department of Corrections lists his “projected release date” as October 27, 2062.
Do Cage and Andreea even have a chance?
While we all want to believe that love can defy all odds, there is simply no denying that the future of Andreea’s and Cage’s relationship already seems doomed.
From what we have seen on Prison Brides so far, Andreea is already struggling with loneliness after just a few months living in the United States.
And even if Andreea and Cage somehow do manage to stay together while they are apart for this time – if Cage does end up having to serve his full 50-year prison sentence, this means that he will be about 67 years-old (and Andreea about 65 years-old) when they can officially begin their life together, which is obviously not very ideal.
