The world of competitive UTV off-road racing has been thrust into the spotlight, thanks to Discovery’s new extreme reality show, Mud Madness.
And so have the expert and seemingly fearless racers who compete in this challenging and filthy sport.
The first season of Mud Madness follows various expert mud racers, as they travel, camp out and eventually compete in the Fall mud racing circuit in the hopes of taking home their share of the over $500,00 worth of cash prizes up for grabs. And, of course, for the honor of being dubbed the winner of the race.
The show has only aired a few episodes thus far, but the action has already picked up to near life-threatening levels.
And one of the racers who has already made mud-waves – not only for his controversial past, but also for his quick save in the last episode – is AJ Robertson.
Robertson is certainly one of Mud Madness’s younger stars, but this does not mean that he lacks the life experience to take the sport seriously.
This rising reality television star even shared in the show’s third episode that his childhood was quite difficult and that he was homeless at one point.
However, now that he is making a name for himself on the mud racing scene, there is much more that you should know about this promising young racer.
The first season of Mud Madness has been full-throttle, right out of the gate. And so far, we have seen Robertson and all the other Mud Madness racers (including Megan Rion, Larry Dredbone Oakes, Josh Carmon, Bryce Sparks and many more) duke it out in the mud, on the dry sand, and on the side-bar.
Season one of Mud Madness can be summarized as follows:
Episode | Initial air date |
“One Nation Under Mud” | April 9, 2024 |
“RIdin’ Dirty at Rednecks” | April 16, 2024 |
“Smash and Drag” | April 23, 2024 |
“All’s Fair in Mud and War” | April 30, 2024 |
“Blood Is Thicker Than Mud” | May 7, 2024 |
“Shut Up and Send It” | May 14, 2024 |
New episodes of Mud Madness air live on Discovery Channel on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. You can also stream the show on platforms like Max, Discovery Go (if you have a valid cable subscription), YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Apple TV and more.
Robertson has explained that his biggest motivation for sharing his journey on this season of Mud Madness is to prove that there is more to him and his racing career than the arrest that has followed him since 2023.
But what you might not know about this promising off-road racer (especially if you have only been following his journey through the show) is that Robertson is actually a father.
Although Robertson seemingly prefers to keep his work- and home-lives separate as far as possible, it seems like he spends every moment he can between races at home in Texas with his “little princess”.
A few snaps from Robertson’s Facebook page also reveal that his daughter may be joining him out on the off-road track soon.
Serious off-road UTV racing, just like any sport, really, comes with its fair share of smack-talking and snide remarks.
But, while Robertson may be able to handle these comments while he is in the mud, he has taken a stand against online hate and nasty comments on his social media pages.
One of his recent posts from December 2023 reads: “You will never, NEVER in life meet a HATER doing better than you.”
Moreover, a quick glimpse at the comment section of Robertson’s most recent posts reveals that the racer has also grown accustomed to defending his custom builds by assuring his critics that they can hold up against even the toughest mud pits in the US.
We will likely have to wait until the end of this season to find out which racer can really call themselves the Mud Madness winner, but Robertson is already preparing for the next circuit.
Robertson recently announced on his Instagram that he is “just getting started” and that he has plans to make his next 2024 racing season even better.
He has not gone into great detail about what these plans entail, but with all of the sponsors he has recently lined up, chances are that he may be debuting an even bigger and better build very soon.
