Hoarders and the show’s team of experts has now officially returned for its 15th season, which will be airing weekly on A&E.
Hoarders is a show which sees a group of expert therapists and professional organizers dedicate their time and energy to helping people who struggle with hoarding tendencies (as well as their friends and family).
The show helps them get to the cause of their problem and race against the clock to clean up their homes, reclaim their lives and establish a healthy balance before the authorities have to get involved.
Hoarders has been on the air in one form or another for more than a decade.
The new season of Hoarders
And while it remains shocking to see the hallways, kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms lined with unimaginable amounts of clutter, the show has helped hundreds of people to come to terms with their conditions.
A&E has now officially confirmed that Hoarders will be continuing this great legacy, as the team of ready-to-help Hoarders experts have agreed to return for a 15th season.
Hoarders, season 15, kicked off with its high-stakes “Terri” episode on January 8, 2024. New episodes of this highly-anticipated new season will be airing on A&E on Mondays, in the 8 p.m. timeslot.
Hoarders season 15 so far
Fortunately for fans who have been waiting quite patiently for the show to return to their screens since season 14 concluded in 2023, the team has wasted absolutely no time tackling some of their most challenging cases yet.
The two season 15 episodes which have aired so far can be summarized as follows:
Episode | Title | Initial air date | Summary |
Episode 1 | “Terri” | January 8, 2024 | The team bands together to help Terri, a practiced midwife, to take control of her hoarding disorder to avoid losing her home, which has been deemed a fire hazard by Code Enforcement. |
Episode 2 | “Bob” | January 15, 2024 | The team helps Bob, a successful artist, as he struggles to get to grips with his past trauma and medical issues. They hope that an intervention can help him to get his life back on track. |
The cast members returning for season 15
Long-time fans of the Hoarders franchise may be happy to hear that many fan-favorite cast members have returned to lend a helping hand in this new season.
This includes Dr. David Tolin (the Director of the Anxiety Disorders Center at the Institute of Living), as well as Dr. Robin Zasio (the founder of The Anxiety Treatment Center), Cory Chalmers (the Extreme Cleaning Specialist) and even Dorothy Breininger (an organizer who has been with the show since its pilot aired back in 2009).
Moreover, as an added bonus, Breininger also recently confirmed that this season will also feature a few special episodes (titled “Hoarders, where are they now?”) which will take a look back on some of the people that the show has helped throughout the last 14 years, and how they have fared after their episodes aired.
What Hoarders is really all about
Even though Hoarders is one of only a few of the television series currently airing to have made it to almost a decade and a half on the air, the show has not always been immune from criticism.
In fact, Hoarders often come under fire in the past for exploiting vulnerable people to generate “shock value” and views.
However, many of the show’s experts have explained that it only aims to give a realistic depiction of the lives of people living with hoarding disorders and to give these people the professional assistance which they may not have gotten otherwise.
Zasio even told USA Today that these experts do everything that they can to address the root cause of the problem and “to try to get them to a place where they can get themselves out of it”.
What to expect for the rest of Hoarders season 15
While the dedicated team working on Hoarders has definitely been able to fine-tune their approach over the years, there are also some key elements which have stayed the same.
This means that season 15, just like all of the Hoarders seasons that have come before it, will have plenty of overly-full, dirty and cluttered homes, as well as its own heart wrenching stories (and, hopefully, some real triumphs).
Episode three, which airs on January 22, 2024, will see the team of Hoarders experts jump in to help John.
John’s dumpster diving and swap-meet shopping hobbies have landed him in hot water with the local code enforcement authorities and he will have to learn to let go of some of his prized possessions or risk losing his home.
