Mya has been making waves on season nine of Ready to Love and it seems like she might just emerge as one of this season’s frontrunners.
The ninth season of OWN’s hit dating show, Ready to Love, has seen the host, Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles, and the rest of the show’s production crew pack up their things and head to Fort Worth, Texas for a new season of mingling.
And now that we are a few episodes in, things are finally starting to heat up in the Ready to Love universe.
In the most recent, “Getting Intimate” fourth episode, Miles challenged the remaining hopeful singles (and a surprise new addition) to connect on a new level.
What we learned about Mya in the most recent episode
There is no denying that season nine of Ready to Love has been a truly wild ride thus far. But in this most recent episode, the season nine ladies go beyond their comfort zones to give the men, and all of us watching along from home, an intimate look at their personal lives.
This includes Mya, who the show simply describes as a 31 year-old Healthcare and IT consultant.
In this episode, we finally got to see Mya share a bit about her life off-screen. And, while we now know that Mya does not have any children or any serious past relationships that the season nine guys should be worried about – we also now know that when the cameras are not rolling (or should we say, when different cameras are rolling) she is usually running her very own waist trainer brand.
Mya’s Ready to Love season 9 run
So much has happened thus far on Ready to Love season nine that it can be difficult to remember where all of our fan-favorite cast members have found themselves at the end of every episode.
But without giving away too much about the competition, Mya’s run can be summarized as follows:
Episode | Title | Initial air date | Status |
Episode 1 | “Hot and Bothered” | January 12, 2024 | Not up for elimination |
Episode 2 | “The Good, Bad and Freaky” | January 19, 2024 | Safe |
Episode 3 | “Finger Lickin’ Good” | January 26, 2024 | Safe |
Episode 4 | “Getting Intimate” | February 2, 2024 | Not up for elimination |
Is Mya one of this season’s frontrunners?
The end of episode four may admittedly be a bit early to start making any predictions about who might emerge as Ready to Love season nine’s frontrunners later on, but it does seem like Mya is on the right track.
This most recent episode saw Mya included in not one, but two dates. This has not only given her some coveted one-on-one (or at least two-on-two) time with the men, which has helped her forge some deeper connections, but it also means that she has had tons of screen time thus far.
And if we know anything about reality television competition shows, it is that the production team rarely wastes that oh-so important screen time early on on contestants who will not end up being around until the end of the show.
Are things heating up between Mya and Laron?
The “Getting Intimate” episode saw Mya not only go on an individual date with Lamar, but also a group date with Mieka, Jonathan and Lamar.
And while we would typically expect a group date to be a little less intimate than the one-on-one dates, it seems like Mya and Laron may have just been able to forge a connection (somewhere between Mieka and Jonathan’s little awkward misunderstanding).
In fact, Mya and Laron were both throwing around terms like “power couple”, “bomb relationship”, “party vibes”, “good time” and more.
And although there is no real way to know whether Mya and Laron will end up exploring this connection any further as the season progresses – it does seem like we could be seeing the start of this season’s first real Ready to Love relationship.
Predictions for episode 5
While Mya may seem like one of the season’s most popular ladies for now, this could all change once the power shifts over to the men’s side next episode.
Season nine’s episode five “Pajama Jam” will premiere on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 8 p.m.
This episode will see Miles turn the tables and ask this season’s men to explore their connection with the ladies in a Pajama Jam party.
And it seems like this shift in the dynamic will force the men to push through those awkward encounters in order to gain some clarity about how strong their various connections truly are.
Either way, this episode promises a level of drama that you could only expect to see elsewhere at a high school sleepover.
