There is a whole other side to Blind Frog Ranch that you never see on-screen, and this side includes a beer called Benny’s Light Lager.

Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch has now officially entered its third season on air. And so far, avid fans of the show have followed along as Duane Ollinger, his son, Chad Ollinger, and the rest of their team of trusted experts investigate everything from mysterious ancient boxes at the bottom of a pond to hidden cave entrances at the Bead site (and everything in between.)

However, even if you have loyally tuned in over the last couple of years to see what else the Ollingers’ investigations would unearth (or to find new reasons why you think the show is a sham, depending on which side of the fandom you fit into), you may not know that there is an entire business side to Blind Frog Ranch, which is rarely mentioned on the show.

The other side of Blind Frog Ranch

While the Ollingers do their best to keep trespassers and so-called claim jumpers from taking over the property, they have had a fairly open-door policy when it comes to welcoming fans and fellow paranormal enthusiasts in the past.

In fact, the Ollingers even had what they call Blind Frog ranch Outpost tours at some point, which allowed fans who lived in – or could travel to – the Uinta Basin area to visit Blind Frog Ranch, see some of the areas which have become somewhat famous through the series, and help the team to pan for gold and other artifacts.

Unfortunately, these Blind Frog Ranch Outpost tours are no longer available to the general public, but they still have plenty of Blind Frog Ranch outpost merchandise available on the website.

And if you are in the Yorba Linda area within the next few months, you may even be able to get your hands on the official Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch beer.

This beer is called ‘Benny’s Light Lager’ and is now officially being served at the Lone Wolf Brewing Co.

Getting technical

There is not much information out there about how or where Benny’s Light Lager is produced, beyond this recent Instagram post from the Blind Frog Ranch page.

And as a result, it is not very clear whether this is a collaboration project or whether it is a beer produced by the Blind Frog Ranch team and is just being sold at Lone Wolf Brewing Co.

In fact, the Blind Frog Ranch team has not even shared what the beer is supposed to taste like. However, since it is being branded as a light lager, we do know that it will differ slightly from a traditional lager, and even ale, in the following ways:

Lager
  • Fermented at a slower pace from the bottom, up
  • Lagers are usually brewed at lower temperatures
  • Lagers typically have a fuller body
Light Lager
  • Usually introduced as a counterpart to an already-existing ‘regular lager’
  • Typically have fewer calories and less alcohol
  • Light lagers sometimes have a less intense flavor
Ale
  • Typically ferment quickly from the top, down.
  • Usually brewed in a warmer environment
  • Typically have a fruitier or spicier flavor

Why did the Blind Frog Ranch Outpost tours come to an end?

The Blind Frog Ranch Outpost tours website lists various reasons for why the guided tours of the property have been suspended,  including:

  • Filming for season three
  • Intruders on the property
  • The “dangerous and illegal” holes that have been dug on the property
  • General repairs and maintenance
  • A search for recording devices and traps

The Blind Frog Ranch team has confirmed that the tours will not be reinstated until all of these issues have been resolved.

All about the Lone Wolf Brewing Co.

If you would like to try the Blind Frog Ranch beer for yourself, it seems like your only option for now is to pop by the Lone Wolf Brewing Co., which is in the heart of Yorba Linda, California.

Outside of Benny’s Light Lager, this so-called “brewpub” also contains a variety of other IPAs, stouts, seltzers, and more.

The menu currently lists a ‘Duane’s Golden Hef’ beer on tap for $8.50 (16 oz.) and two different commemorative Blind Frog ranch glasses (for $16.50 each).

All of the Blind Frog Ranch beer-themed merchandise

Even if you cannot go all the way to California to taste Benny’s Light Lager for yourself, you can still share in the fun by purchasing some of the Blind Frog Ranch Outpost merchandise.

The Blind Frog Ranch Outpost website lists a range of Benny’s Light Lager themed items, including the newly-added pint glasses (currently on sale for $19.99) and even a Benny’s Light Lager TeeShirt, which is $24.99.
