The Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team found a lot of new evidence in season three, but they have not found any Aztec treasure just yet.
About 500 years ago, a Spanish Conquistador named Hernán Cortés arrived in Mexico to an absolute treasure-trove of gifts from the Aztec Emperor Montezuma, who had hoped that these extravagant gifts would help to prevent any unnecessary conflict.
However, as the story goes, these gifts ended up doing the exact opposite of what Montezuma intended and instead, fanned the flames of Cortés’ lust for treasure.
This meeting between the Spaniards and the Aztecs resulted in a bitter back-and-forth between the two sides.
This ultimately ended with Cortés’s troops having to flee Mexico, but not before thousands of Montezuma’s loyal subjects left to find a hiding place for what remained of this reportedly insanely wealthy emperor’s treasure.
The Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch treasure
It has long been rumored that the Aztecs took to Utah, of all places, to safely stash what was left of Montezuma’s treasure.
And if you have watched Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, you will already know that Duane Ollinger, his son, Chad Ollinger, and their large team of scientists and experts believe that they may just find this treasure buried somewhere in the cave system beneath their 160-acre Uintah Basin property.
However, while this team got as close as they have ever been to finding real Aztec gold in season three in 2023, the members of the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team seemingly still have a long way to go before they can call themselves millionaires.
The Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season 3 “treasures”
To recap, season three of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch was one of the show’s most exciting seasons to date, and even saw the discovery of what the team believed to be a real gold bar.
All of the treasures that the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team discovered during season three include:
Find | Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch episode |
Indigenous beads | Season 3, episode 3 |
Scraper, artifacts and a hipbone possibly used as a facemask, a grinding stone | Season 3, episode 3 |
Spanish coins (reportedly from 1782 and 1784) | Season 3, episode 3 |
A modern ring | Season 3, episode 3 |
Low-purity gold slag ingot bars | Season 3, episode 3 |
Obsidian and Iridium fragments | Season 3, episode 7 |
However, while the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team verified their season one and two findings with local pawn shop experts, carbon dating and other scientific processes, many of these newer “treasures” have not been verified by outside sources yet.
Besides the beads and the Iridium found during this season – we still do not know whether any of the found artifacts really are what the team assumed they were, or even how old they really are.
Other curious Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch season 3 discoveries
Outside of all the possibly historically-significant “treasures” that the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team found in 2023, it also found evidence of a Doppler shift around the energy zone (akin to that of a supermassive black hole), evidence of a mysterious keyhole formation (possibly located near what they believe could be the Head of Towats), a vent shaft, and even some evidence of meteor activity.
On the not-treasure-related front, the team also discovered evidence of what could possibly be a prehistoric snake during this season.
The finds that did not make it to television
Season three of Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch was certainly jam-packed with new theories and evidence, but it turns out that not everything that Duane and the team find in a given season makes the final cut.

In fact, the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team shared a series of photographs on Facebook detailing “a feature, an unusual object or something within question on Blind Frog Ranch” in January of 2023.
This included some interesting rock faces, possible markers and other unique topographical features which they have found on the property over the years.
Will the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team ever find the $3 billion treasure?
Unfortunately, the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team ended the 2023 season without locating the rumored rooms’ worth of Aztec treasure that they believe is buried on the property.
However, the team ended the season on a relative high note by finally locating a dry entrance to Blind Frog Ranch’s elusive underground cave system.
And at this point, it seems like they are the closest that they have ever been to actually finding real treasure.
But we suspect that if the Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch team ever finds a treasure hidden on their property, the news will get out long before the show documents the process on-screen.
