5 Must-know updates for your favorite shows on Showmax

Streaming services like Showmax have an always-changing lineup of new and old content, which is why it is important to stay on top of all the must-know details.

Showmax was one of the first streaming services to cater specifically to the South African market. Now its variety of local and international shows have made it a favorite among viewers ever since.

Even so, it can be quite difficult to keep up with which seasons of which shows are on the platform, which is why Showmax subscribers often have a few pressing questions about their favorite shows.

About Showmax

Streaming services are still a fairly new concept in the South African film- and television landscape, which this has not prevented the local MultiChoice-owned Showmax from staking its claim. Showmax was first launched in South Africa in 2015, even before the global streaming giant, Netflix, entered the African market in 2016.

However, now, several years down the line, Showmax is still holding its own against some of the biggest international competitors, having had around 861 000 total subscribers at the end of the 2021 year.

5 Must-know updates for your favorite shows on Showmax

One of the main reasons why Showmax has maintained such a large user-base over the years (and is even expected to reach 2.12 million subscribers by the end of 2026, if this trend continues), is because the platform boasts such a wide variety of local and international titles for viewers to enjoy.

Not only has Showmax been able to expand its reach throughout the last couple of years to include access in areas like Angola, Botswana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and many more. But this streaming service has also introduced a Showmax Pro subscription tier (which offers many additional benefits) and has even produced a few Showmax Originals like Adulting, The Mommy Club, Stella Murders, The Real Housewives of Nairobi and more.

But, with all of the wonderful streaming services that we now have access to here in Mzansi, it can be quite difficult to keep track of where you can find some of your favourite shows and films. And even worse in some cases, – whether you can access all of the newest seasons of these favourite shows once they have been released overseas.

Not to worry though, we have rounded up all the important details about some of the most-watched shows on Showmax. This is so that you can spend less of your time researching, and more of your precious time watching – in-between the bouts of load-shedding, of course.
