The “Survivor 41”, “Heroes vs. Villains” and “Tocantins” seasons still have some of the funniest moments and casts in the Survivor franchise.
There are plenty of reasons why Survivor has remained one of the most popular reality competition shows after so many years on the air.
But one of the main reasons for this is the fact that the cast of contestants who are introduced every season always ensure that the show is not only enticing to watch, but that some seasons become downright hilarious.
Why Survivor is so popular
Few other survival competition shows have come close to the success of Survivor. Not only has the show been on the air for well over two decades, but it still managed to rake in over seven million viewers in the 2020 to 2021 season.
It is not difficult to see why this reality show has managed to maintain its audience when so many others have failed.
Between the challenging group dynamics that contestants have to navigate, the physical challenges that they have to overcome and the oh-so entertaining running commentary, there is a lot to love about the Survivor franchise.
3 funniest Survivor seasons
There is absolutely no doubt that the Survivor challenges have gotten even more complex and challenging as the seasons have progressed. In fact, sometimes, it seems nearly impossible that the contestants will be able to complete them.
However, every avid Survivor fan will know that as fun as it can be to watch the contestants struggle and butt heads during these challenges, the best of the show is often hearing what contestants have to say to the camera when they are away from their teammates.
Every new season of Survivor comes with a brand new cast of characters, and even if these are returning faces, the new dynamics usually mean that we see a brand new side of contestants.
While some contestants have now become infamous for their clever strategies, or their short tempers, the contestants who have really managed to stand out among all of the chaos and remain fan-favorites in the franchise to this day, are usually those who use humor to cope with their insane circumstances.
The funniest seasons of a reality competition show are not always necessarily some of the best overall.
But if you are looking to watch some of the most entertaining and iconic moments that have happened in the now 44-season-long Survivor franchise so far, then you should definitely add the “Survivor 41”, “Heroes vs. Villains” and “Tocantins” seasons to your to-be-watched list.
The “Survivor 41’ season
“Survivor 41” has always been a polarizing season amongst Survivor fans, and for good reason. This season’s scoring system was downright confusing, and its surprise twists just seemed to come out of nowhere.
However, these elements do not take away from the fact that this season’s cast is absolutely one of the most entertaining to watch.
From Brad Reese’s old-school spying techniques and Xander Hastings’s horrible one-liners, to the ridiculous phrases that the contestants had to utter before they could get their hands on an idol, this season certainly had more than its fair share of funny moments to balance out the craziness that was caused by all of the twists.
The “Heroes vs. Villains” season
“Heroes vs. Villains” is often touted as one of the best, and certainly one of the most memorable, seasons in the entire Survivor franchise.
This latest season (which was technically the 20th season of the show) separated the contestants into groups based on the way that they played the game previously.
This premise certainly led to some interesting and shocking moments throughout the season, including an infamous tribal council where one contestant opted to self-eliminate.
But in general, this season’s cast delivered on everything from comedy and drama, to hysterics. “Heroes vs. Villains” is certainly one of the Survivor seasons that you just have to watch at some point if you truly love the show.
The “Tocantins” season
The “Tocantins” season of Survivor may not necessarily be the first season that fans think of – well, at any point really. Moreover, it is generally considered to be fairly middle-of-the-road when it comes to gameplay and strategy.
However, this season was the first time that viewers were introduced to cast members who have gone on to become some of the most infamous in the franchise’s history.
This includes the charismatic JT, the downright confrontational Sierra and Tyson and the walking stream-of-consciousness Coach (also known as The Dragon Slayer).
What this season lacks in terms twists and surprise reveals, it more than makes up for in unbelievable and downright hilarious moments.
